Derek Abel and Tamara McCourt, CCE, CLFP, worked at some of the largest business lending companies in the United States and have extensive experience in all aspects of business financing.

They realized the need for a new player in the industry, one that would connect business owners with a wide array of loans and financing solutions. And that provided the strategic expertise and personalized customer service that embody teamwork to the highest degree.

In 2022, Derek and Tamara founded Huddle Business Capital, which has become the MVP for businesses of all sizes in countless industries. Huddle Business Capital serves small businesses, middle-market companies, equipment vendors, and franchise owners nationwide.

Derek Abel

Co-Founder

Derek Abel is Co-Founder of Huddle Business Capital. He began his career in equipment finance after earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration from California State University, Bakersfield. His experience in sales and financial consulting at major business lending companies has helped him guide business owners through a wide range of financing needs, including complex requests that call for persistence and creative problem-solving.

Derek enjoys getting to know the people behind each business and helping them find a practical path forward.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his son, daughter, and the rest of his family. His hobbies include golf, pickleball, volleyball, travel, and photography.

Tamara McCourt

Co-Founder

Tamara McCourt is Co-Founder of Huddle Business Capital. She has worked in equipment finance since 1992 and in working capital financing since 2009. Her experience spans credit underwriting, sales, documentation, and funding, giving her insight into both what lenders need and what business owners are trying to accomplish. She has built strong lending relationships across equipment finance and working capital and is also well-versed in SBA financing, business term loans, and lines of credit.

Tamara completed a two-year graduate program in credit and financial analysis at Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business and earned the Executive Award of Highest Distinction. She holds the Certified Credit Executive (CCE) and Certified Lease & Finance Professional (CLFP) designations and serves on the National Equipment Finance Association (NEFA) Board of Directors.

Outside work, Tamara has completed five triathlons and a half marathon. She lives in Southern California with Duke, her Miniature Pinscher mix, and they are both avid Seahawk fans.
